Monica and Jonathan’s Cozy Mountain Elopement in Oregon

You may think a springtime elopement in the mountains in Oregon is crazy…but Monica and Jonathan had the most easygoing, cozy, awesome experience in Government Camp for their elopement in March! Lessons were learned, adventures were had, memories were made. Monica and Jonathan’s mountain elopement is the perfect inspiration for your own celebration, too, so be sure to check out their gallery below!

Planning a Mountain Elopement

Monica sent me a message last December asking if I had any advice on planning an elopement. She and Jonathan knew they wanted a more adventurous experience! I sent her a list of some really cool places to check out, and they ended up picking Oregon as their destination.

As their elopement photographer, it was my job to show them that an elopement would be easy and fun! Lots of couples aren’t sure where to begin — elopement planning can be foreign territory! I advised them to decide on a budget first, and then a location. After that, I gave them an all-inclusive quote, which includes travel, location scouting, shooting, an online gallery, and all the printing rights to their photos. See? Easy!

A gorgeous, cozy spring celebration

When Monica, Jon, and their siblings looked at the four feet of snow they had to walk to to get to the ceremony location I chose, no one hesitated! They all said, "Alright, let's go!" We all kept sinking into the snow. Not a single one of us had appropriate footwear on, but we all did it for the couple. And it was so worth it!

The entire experience was super chill, easygoing, and so much fun. Monica and Jonathan brought along their siblings so that they could have fun together in Oregon, and make some memories in addition to getting married. The whole crew spent a couple days in Portland hanging out, playing games, and visiting wineries. Then they all drove out to an Airbnb they rented in the mountains, said their vows, played more games, and drank a lot more wine!

Plus, I think the universe was sending them a little sign that this was the perfect way to get married. The wedding champagne glasses broke, and when Monica’s sister ran to a Goodwill store to find more, she found the exact same ones that had just broken! Little moments like those are so amazing on an elopement day!

Monica’s dress screamed mountain vibes, and the earthy neutral color palette suited the vibe of the day so perfectly. But what am I saying?! Check it all out for yourself!

While I usually serve as a wedding and elopement photographer in Michigan and North Carolina, I was so excited and happy to capture Monica and Jonathan’s mountain elopement here in Oregon. They were so welcoming and had such a gorgeous celebration. And, I can’t wait to be back here! Reach out to me to book elopement photography in Oregon (or beyond!).
